My Sweet Apostrophe

This weekend's Trifextra challenge: Write a 33-word apostrophe. About.com defines apostrophe as, "A figure of speech in which some absent or nonexistent person or thing is addressed as if present and capable of understanding."

So, of course, my first impulse was to write an apostrophe about the punctuation mark of the same name. Yep, that's how my mind works. I've learned to just go with it.

O, my sweet apostrophe!
Show me thy versatility.
How I love when you’re possessive.
Join two words as one. Impressive!
Do pluralize that single letter,
But not whole words. (“S” does that better.)

    1. Thank you, Paul. :) "Funny" will probably be in the minority this weekend, but I had lots of fun writing this one ... especially since my last few pieces were darker.

    1. Too funny! Everyone's writing beautiful/meaningful/touching pieces. And mine? Yeah, it's about punctuation. Can't get much deeper than that. ;)

I LOVE that you expect me to "kick the pants off" prompts. Don't know that I always deliver, but I'm honored you give me that much credit. Thanks for the awesome compliment!

    2. Thank you, MOV! Your feedback means a lot to me.

And I LOVE that you came back to let me know you're kinda jealous. You really shouldn't be. It was all in the subject matter. I mean, anyone could make the amazing apostrophe sound awesome. But you? I bet you could even make the common comma sound epic. :)
