This
weekend's Trifextra Writing Challenge is
to write a haiku: an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing
usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively.
So, here is my 17-syllable tribute to the diary:
Cleanse my soul, paper.
Capture, you, my heart's riddles.
No lies; no judgments.

This is profound,Ivy!
ReplyDeleteGreat haiku, Ivy. Especially the last line!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kymm!
DeleteThis is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteAwww! Thanks, Draug. :)
DeleteNice! The one place you can be totally honest (and hope you hide it well enough so no one ever, ever reads it :))
ReplyDeleteI haven't kept a diary for years. Good thing, too. My kids don't have written proof that I did the things I tell them not to do. :)
DeleteThanks for reading!
I like it Ivy. Unashamedly honest.
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly! :)
DeleteThis is wonderful. Laying your soul out on paper is very powerful. Thanks for letting me know I came in 2nd! I was shocked. So, many talented people linking up to Trifecta, I'm shocked. Very happy. :) This piece is beautifully written.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donetta! I think writing itself is such a vulnerable process. Putting your innermost thoughts on paper is both scary and freeing.
DeleteI hope I didn't ruin the moment for you. I was just so happy to see that your piece won, so I popped right over to congratulate you. :)
Fantastic! A wonderful haiku.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I was expecting some wine to work its way in but instead found a touching tribute to writing! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteHow about if I told you I was drinking when I wrote it? ;)
DeleteThank you!
Good one. Like it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paul.
DeleteWow, the sanctity of the diary is brilliantly expressed here! Wonderful haiku!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the incredibly kind comment! :)
DeleteYou nailed it! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan! :)

It's not a big loss

ReplyDeleteAhh that is how writing should be
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is for me. Thanks for reading!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Suzanne!
Delete"Cleanse my soul, paper."
ReplyDeleteThis is why I write, Ivy! Gorgeously said!!
Thank you, Valerie! I'd probably go mad if I couldn't put things down on paper.
DeleteOoh gosh, that's exactly how I feel sometimes - the only way to deal with it all is write it down. The paper does NOT talk back! :)
ReplyDeleteSo true! Writing is so much cheaper than therapy. :) Thanks for reading!
DeleteAnd indeed, it is cleansing. No judgment. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteSo true so true! Nice:)
ReplyDeleteThanks much!
