Dear Diary

This weekend's Trifextra Writing Challenge is to write a haiku: an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively.

So, here is my 17-syllable tribute to the diary:

Cleanse my soul, paper.
Capture, you, my heart's riddles.
No lies; no judgments.

  3. Nice! The one place you can be totally honest (and hope you hide it well enough so no one ever, ever reads it :))

    1. I haven't kept a diary for years. Good thing, too. My kids don't have written proof that I did the things I tell them not to do. :)

      Thanks for reading!

  5. This is wonderful. Laying your soul out on paper is very powerful. Thanks for letting me know I came in 2nd! I was shocked. So, many talented people linking up to Trifecta, I'm shocked. Very happy. :) This piece is beautifully written.

    1. Thanks, Donetta! I think writing itself is such a vulnerable process. Putting your innermost thoughts on paper is both scary and freeing.

I hope I didn't ruin the moment for you. I was just so happy to see that your piece won, so I popped right over to congratulate you. :)

  18. Ooh gosh, that's exactly how I feel sometimes - the only way to deal with it all is write it down. The paper does NOT talk back! :)
